      I hope I don’t waste blood.

I donate blood for transfusion (I hope you do when you are older). The human blood I use in my research is either blood that has been stored too long to give to people or blood from me and my research group. When we donate blood for our studies it is only a small amount and not enough to affect our blood donations.

The bloody milkshake that I use as a popular science demonstration uses animal blood. This is blood that would anyway be got rid of when an animal was slaughtered to make the food we eat.

I hope that answers your question!
