Mostly because I like being nosy!

If you had a box in front of you and you didn’t know what was inside it would you open it and have a look? I would! and x-rays let you have a look without having to open the box.

X-rays allow you to look inside the body and inside peoples bags which is quite amazing if you stop and think about it. When x-rays were first discovered in 1895 people were fascinated as it was the first time they could see inside themselves without someone hacking them open with a big knife.

Now technology has moved on and x-rays systems can work at more than one energy at the same time, you can have three dimensional images and slices through things with CT and look at x-rays that are scttered as well as those ones that pass stright through things. I think mostly what made me want to study x-rays is how useful they are. Who knows what other uses they’ll have in the future?
