I research how to detect breast cancer using x-ray diffraction patterns. I can also use exactly the same technique to work out what substances are in a parcel or bag, useful for customs and in airports.

My Typical Day:
Collecting x-ray data in the lab, writing programs to analyse data, re-collecting data when it makes no sense.

What I'd do with the prize money:
Buy equipment to take to schools to demo medical physics and electrocute unsuspecting volunteers
