Well – I can work from home, but mostly I do go to work because I find it easier to concentrate.

If I have to stay at home, if I am expecting a delivery or something during the day, then I just fire up my laptop and I always have something to keep me busy. I also have to read quite a bit so that is something else I can do anywhere.

But on the whole I go to work for 8-9 hours a day like most people. It is one of the advantages of the job that some flexibility is there if you need it.

Actually I work in my house as well as the lab! (the house for writing books and the lab for doing – or rather managing – experiments).

So I spend a lot of time in either.

Martin is right – about 40-50 hours a week seems about right for how long I work though. But many scientists do a standard 35 hour week. We are a slightly self-selected over keen group on these web pages!
