      Hi again Ellen

I make sure that I work around 50 hours a week like most people. If I don’t I feel like I am falling behind (even if I am not, I still feel like it). This is not a problem because I enjoy what I do.

Sometimes if there is a deadline you will end up working LONG hours but only for a short time. Most jobs can be like this sometimes.

But, I can choose WHEN I work to some degree – which is one of the nice parts of the job. It is more flexible than most jobs but you have to be disciplined or you get nothing done.

No – my job is very flexible. This isn’t true for all scientists, but is pretty true for professors in university.

Mind you this doesn’t mean I don’t work less hard than people on fixed hours.. Self-motivation keeps you working hard.
