No – my work is fairly safe. But I bike to work every day and that can be pretty scary 🙂

no fortunately. But I work on cyanide and one very stupid student – against all the rules – added acid to a cyanide solution. This gives off poisonous hydrogen cyanide. Luckily we smelt it in time

Thankfully not. There are very good safety practices in place and work. If you follow these you are usually okay.

I once electrocuted myself trying to build a power supply for my equipment.

I thought I had turned it off at the wall when I was tinkering with a wire but I hadn’t. Luckily I had a step down transformer so it wasn’t the whole 240V. I did have a dead arm for a day. I was very stupid and am much more careful now. We have to do risk assessments which are supposed to make everyone aware of the hazards and avoid them I was just particularly dumb that day.
