      Ok – what about the fact that a gas (nitric oxide) associated with car pollution is now known to be key molecule for controlling blood pressure, blood flow and memory. It is even responsible for the blood volume increase in erections (yes those ones).

      Actually I didn’t discover that – I wish I had it won a Nobel Prize! But I did find out that this same gas inhibits the oxygen consumed in the body. We still don’t why it does this or if it is important. Presently I am looking to study carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulfide – both toxic gases that play a similar role to nitric oxide in the body. Or at least we think they might ……..
