      all sorts of reasons. A change in habitat or climate is the most usual. Sadly recently this is likely to be caused by man.

      Of course extinction is natural – every species goes extinct as it evolves into something else. But extreme, rapid change can mean there are no descendant species at all. In the past whole classes of animals and plants have gone extinct. The dinosaurs are the obvious ones, but lots of little ones have been lost too.
